China and Africa collaborate to tackle the challenges of energy access and transition

On August 29, the National Development and Reform Commission held a special press conference to officially launch the 2024 Blue Book of the Development Report on Jointly Building the Belt and Road Initiative between China and African Countries. The Blue Book comprehensively evaluates the development outcomes of Belt and Road cooperation between China and African countries.

On August 29, the National Development and Reform Commission held a special press conference to officially launch the 2024 Blue Book of the Development Report on Jointly Building the Belt and Road Initiative between China and African Countries. The Blue Book comprehensively evaluates the development outcomes of Belt and Road cooperation between China and African countries.

Xu Jianping, Director of the Regional Opening Department at the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that Chinese enterprises have been involved in constructing and renovating over 10,000 kilometers of railways, nearly 100,000 kilometers of roads, almost 1,000 bridges, close to 100 ports, 66,000 kilometers of power transmission lines as well as transformation lines. Additionally they have built 1500 kilometers backbone communication networks in African countries. In terms of electricity infrastructure projects such as Suapiti Hydropower project in Guinea,Guina Hydropower Station in Mali,and Giblau Hydropower Station in Equatorial Guinea have been completed by China which has effectively improved power supply across Africa. Furthermore,in terms mutual recognition standards ,China has signed eight standardization cooperation documents with five African countries including Ethiopia,Sudan,Morocco,Niger,Benin,and The African Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization achieving mutual recognition integrated development standards key areas such agriculture ,energy,minerals transportation climate change."
